Covering 35 square kilometers, the municipality of Manilva is one of the least developed locations on the Costa del Sol which lies on the coast at the southwesternmost edge of the province of Málaga on its border with the province of Cádiz. It has a rich and fascinating history dating back to Roman times and still today there are some remarkably well-preserved Roman Sulphur baths and an Aqueduct.
The municipality of Manilva has several population centers. Sabinillas with the Puerta de la Duquesa are the most important from a tourism point of view.
There are plenty of wonderful beaches along this interesting coastline with the Playa de Punta Chullera providing what is arguably the one of particular scenic interest. It is surrounded by rocks and low cliffs providing a home to a host of marine and sea life.
